People with anxiety often live in the future. Fear of harm or expectations of failure causes their heart to race, their palms to sweat, a shortness of breath. They often run away from the speech to give, the date to go on; and even perhaps, something seemingly without great conflict, a meeting with friends -- ‘what will they think of me, how will I act?’ Similar to the OCD treatment, we will confront these fears, see if the evidence is valid or not; and simultaneously, try to understand how these responses developed and why.
