Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
The interesting thing about this diagnosis is that it is a spectrum. Such a vast spectrum that you might be surprised how many “normal” people share ASD characteristics. And many, if not most, of my patients, who suffer from ASD, also have OCD, ADHD, or both. As such, similar treatments apply. Functional Behavioral Assessments will be made, i.e., a thorough and evolving history will be taken, check ins are de rigueur, and the treatment plan is adapted to either meet the patient where they are now, or where they can still go. Usually, it’s a little of both.
*For your information, what was formerly known as Asperger's Syndrome is now considered high functioning autism under the umbrella of ASD.
